Home from the Holy Land
by on June 11, 2007I just returned from the greatest pilgrimage I’ve ever taken. Israel is the land where God Wal-Marted himself for humanity, so each one of us can have access to his goodness and grace. This is the land where the Word became Flesh so that flesh can live forever with the Word. It was a trip beyond trips, and it will take a lifetime to unpack all of its spiritual blessings.
Rebecca and I visited Galilee where Jesus walked on water. We floated in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. We saw Gethsemene where Christ was crushed for my sin. We saw Golgotha where he was crucified. But most importantly, we saw the tomb, that empty hole in the rock that purged the Rock of Ages from the grave. Thank God we can place all our eggs in the Easter basket.
It was a trip of a lifetime, to walk where Jesus walked, breathe his air, and see where great drops of sweat became great drops of blood. And I am changed forever.
