Debrief on Italy Pilgrimage

by Christian on April 15, 2007

My recent pilgrimage to Italy was amazing. While there were many interesting lessons I learned about the Christian experience, traveling through the “green heart” of Umbria opened my eyes to a God who works his will through many denominations and traditions. Within the spectrum of Christianity, I discovered that I have so very much to learn from other cultures and practices.

It has become my prayer to hunger for holiness like Franciscans, work and pray like Benedictines, preach like Baptists, teach like Presbyterians, and sing like Weslyans.

To belong to a denomination is to belong to a city. But one who lives in a city also lives in a state. And one who lives in a state also lives in a country. Our Christian faith is local and universal. Narrow and broad. And we must not limit on earth what God ordains for heaven.
